TEMPUS
Project Overview
A Table for Gathering, Gaming, and Living Well
The Tempus Game Table brings the warmth and craftsmanship of custom furniture to the world of tabletop gaming. Inspired by mid-century modern hourglass design and crafted from beautiful cherry hardwood, the Tempus Game Table is designed to feel at home in a thoughtfully furnished living space while offering a dedicated place for game nights, puzzles, role-playing campaigns, card games, and more.
Lift away the tabletop leaves to reveal a recessed game vault with a neoprene playing surface. When the game is over, replace the leaves and the table is ready for dinner, drinks, or everyday gathering. The result is a versatile piece that makes room for play without asking your home to look like a game room.
Designed for Play. Made for Everyday Living.
The Tempus balances clean, mid-century modern lines with practical details for people who love games and beautiful furniture. Its large square top comfortably seats four to eight people, making it a natural gathering place for friends and family. Tempus is made from cherry, with a carefully selected quarter-sawn cherry veneer tabletop framed by a solid cherry railing. The base incorporates a solid central panel weighted with a metal plate, and strong mortise-and-tenon joinery provides the lasting structure expected of custom furniture. Every detail is considered to balance visual lightness, durability, and everyday function. Tempus is designed not as a temporary gaming accessory, but as a piece of furniture to enjoy for years to come.
Thoughtful Storage
When the tabletop leaves are removed, they can be stored in a separate, matching cherry storage crate with a soft, carpet-lined interior designed to protect them. Keeping the leaves close at hand makes it easy to move between game night and everyday use.
A Game Table Built Around You
Tempus is one example of what’s possible with a custom game table from Waldo Furniture Company. Every household plays differently, and a custom design can be developed around the games you enjoy, the people you gather with, and the space you live in. Depending on the project, custom features may include tailored dimensions, different materials and finishes, or additions such as cup holders and game-accessory storage. The goal is to create a table that works for your play style and feels right in your home.
For homeowners, tabletop gamers, interior designers, and architects, a custom game table brings together two priorities that don’t always meet in a single piece: an inviting place to play and furniture worthy of the room around it.
